Lochore Meadows

An old saying came to me before leaving for the walk today. 'A quick run around the table' is what my mum used to say when you were rushing so much, you didn't have time to sit down to eat. I found myself getting one boot on while taking a bite of my roll and writing a note at the same time. So, yes, I held everyone up. NB Don't plan a walk after Communion in future!

Twelve of us met in the carpark at Lochore Meadows at 1.30pm and set off with an air of foreboding when we checked out the pewter skies above us. Loch Ore was pretty turbulent and we felt the spray on our faces. Did we consider turning back? Naw, we bashed on.

We talked about the kids' playpark as we passed it and reckoned it was good use of £750,000, especially in an area of high depravation. A wonderful free facility for children of all ages  which attracts visitors from far and wide.

We had only gone a short way when we realised that we were missing one of our leaders. She was spotted way back in the distance having stopped to make a phonecall. Then when she caught up with us she did a headcount to make sure we were all there!

All along the pathway around the loch there are many benches which have been placed as memorials, remembering family and friends who had enjoyed the 'Meedies' in their lifetime. We stopped and read some of the plaques and spoke their names.

As always, there was a good variety of discussions and we swapped around so that we could take part in as many conversations as possible. Our new minister was a popular topic and everyone gave a resounding vote of approval. We are so very fortunate that Eileen was chosen for us.

We took a photo outside the  Fife outdoor education centre, and as the weather had slightly improved, considered having a wee sail or maybe a spot of wild swimming. However, with not a  dry robe nor  a neon rubber cap among us, we passed on that idea.

Approaching the carpark once more, as has happened to the walking group countless times in the past, the heavens opened. As if the rain was being held up there until we were done.

The cafe at the park was closed by that time, but fortunately the walk leaders had booked us into Dunnikier Golf Club for coffee and scones.  (just incase there wasn't enough scones for us all, Carol had brought some with her in her backpack ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†Belt and braces Carol ) We gave a 5star rating for the quality of scone.

A lovely 3.7 mile walk with smashing company. Lets have another one then - 23rd November folks! Watch the church website for info.
