Ravenscraig and Dysrt

On a beautiful blue sky Sunday, 15 walkers set out together for a walk around Ravenscraig Park and Dysart. It was lovely to welcome back Kerry, Stephen and Jennifer and for Aileen to join us for the first time.

Walking past the road works for sewer installation work on Dysart Road, we entered the park and walked past the playpark to the shale path which hugs the coastline. The scenery was just amazing blue sea and sky. Lots of dog walkers and cyclists also taking advantage of the lovey day.

We walked under the tunnel into Dysart harbour and with the tide coming in, the boats were still in the harbour but are due to be lifted out soon for winter safekeeping.  We also noted the huge breach in the outer harbour wall which happened during a storm in February this year and is predicted to cost around £1.4 million to repair.

Next it was spot the giant cat, one of the 17 produced for the Wemyss Ware Cat Trail.

It is entitled The Dysart Cat and depicts Dysart Pan Ha’. Yes we found it in the elevated seating area above the harbour. Well it was too irresistible so we just had to photo bomb it.

Heading in the direction of Pan Ha’ we stopped to admire and read the new information

boards and signage.  Great for visitors to get a brief history.

Leaving Pan Ha’ and dominated by St Serfs tower we headed up the hill passing the Carmelite Monastery and Dysart Art Club we re entered Ravenscraig Park. A bit of nice woodland walking with lots of chatter we then headed to The Strathearn for our refreshments. I think it’s safe to say we would give the staff and scones (with jam and cream) 10/10. In fact it was noted that this was the only time we weren’t blethering as our mouth were full.

Leaving the hotel we headed back into the park via the woodland walk retracing our steps back to the cars. Completing the afternoon with our walkers prayer we departed to our cars.

“May God hold you in the palm of His hand until we meet again”
